Why We Started: Rethinking the Everyday Phone Case
The phone accessory industry produces billions of plastic phone cases every year and most made from cheap, non-recyclable plastic. These cases often crack or fade fast, ending up in landfills or oceans where they contribute to the world’s plastic crisis.
The Story of Casescape
A Wake-Up Call
During a recent trip to the Sea of Japan, our founders were heartbroken to see plastic waste covering the shores which was a stark difference from the pristine beaches of Vancouver Island, where they’re raising their family.
Facing the Reality
Conversations with local residents revealed that much of this plastic pollution originates from regions like China, Indonesia, and other developing coastal areas that lack the funding and infrastructure to handle waste properly.
One of the largest contributors of this ocean plastic, 1.5 billion phone cases that get thrown away and end up in landfills and the ocean.
Turning Purpose Into Action
This experience inspired Casescape’s mission: to stop coastal plastic from polluting our oceans. By educating and empowering consumers, Casescape aims to prevent 1,000,000 pounds of plastic waste, one phone case and one pound at a time with our Buy One. Prevent One ocean plastic prevention initiative.
Like you, we knew there had to be a better way. We wanted to design a biodegradable phone case alternative that doesn’t sacrifice style or protection and that’s how Casescapes began.
